A Mïrka Lugosi exhibition , set to begin at Le Monte-en-l'air in Paris-20éme , the 14th of February .
Mirka Lugosi , one of France's leading illustrators , has carved her own niche in the specialized field of fetish art . Considered marginal in the 1970s , she blossomed in the late 1980s when acceptance of fetishism provided new outlets for her work . With influences ranging from De Sade to Man Ray, Lugosi’s art blends a mastery of color, dreamlike compositions , old-fashioned props , and a sense of humor as it celebrates the extremes of sensual enjoyment .
Mïrka works in small size , as a true miniaturist . The intimacy and the preciosity of its images return us in a forgotten world , without logic nor hierarchy, where objects and characters are treated on an equal footing . Under the misleading appearance of a traditional style that one could see like "charming" and naive , Mïrka shows all that disturbs our good consciences . Beyond the conventional erotic imagery, it questions our impulses in the expression of its own imaginations.
